It can be scary to see any bleeding after menopause—but take a deep breath. We’re breaking down what it could mean,  when to message your clinician, and how MyMenopauseRx can help you figure out what’s going on.

🩸Postmenopausal bleeding means any vaginal bleeding that happens a year or more after your last period.

It could be just a little spot on your underwear, or it might feel more like a short period. The color can vary—bright red, pink, or even dark brown.

Sometimes, this happens when you’re starting hormone therapy, and that can be completely normal. But if you're not on hormone therapy and notice bleeding—even just once—it’s important to check in with your clinician.

Your MyMenopauseRx clinician will help you get to the bottom of it and likely start by recommending a pelvic ultrasound. An ultrasound is a quick, non-invasive way to take a closer look at your uterus, ovaries, and the lining of your uterus (called the endometrium). It helps spot things like fibroids and tells us if the lining is thicker than it should be—something we want to keep an eye on when it comes to your endometrial cancer risk.

Depending on what we see, we might suggest you schedule a visit to your in-person gynecologist for a simple in-office procedure called a hysteroscopy with an endometrial biopsy. Don’t worry—it sounds scarier than it is. A tiny camera is gently passed into the uterus so we can look around, and a small sample of tissue is taken for testing. This gives us even more helpful info to make sure everything is okay.

The bottom line? If you’re on hormone therapy and notice a little bleeding, it might not be a big deal. But if the bleeding seems unusual or if you’re not on hormones at all, let’s talk. Our team at MyMenopauseRx can get you scheduled for the right tests and support you every step of the way. 💜

You deserve peace of mind—and we’re here to help you get it.
